Painting Textured Walls
Hello everyone,
I am moving into a new room and I plan on painiting it. Three of the walls are textured in what I found online to be called Mud Trowel Knockdown Technique (I attached a picture of how it looks). The last wall is smooth. It is my first time painting so any suggestion is appreciated. The previous paint is all white but there are no particular stains. I read a lot of articles and watched some videos on how to prep a smooth wall for painting. My first question is, is there anything that should be done differently in terms of prepping textured walls for painting? Of course I cannot sand it down and make it smooth but I covered all the holes and sanded the untextured parts of the wall.
My second question is, should I prime all the walls? I am not sure if rough walls like this need to primed or not. I saw that there are some paint+primer available but I believe that those save time but they are not as good as doing one at the time.
My third question is, since there are different scales of roughness, should I use a thick roller (3/4" - 1"?) or a medium one (3/8"-1/2")?
Finally, how many hands of paint should I do? Is usually primer and one coat good enough or does that depend?

That's a lot of questions. Any suggestions on possible issues that I might have overlooked are greatly appreaciated.
Thanks in advance on any help

Clean the wall, prime any spots you had to work on.
Then use a real paint not a primer and paint in one.
I'd suggest Super Paint by Sherwin Williams.
Use a 3/4" nap roller.
