painting shower

My son has painted drywall for the walls around his bath tub. He is installing a shower head and will put up a shower curtain. Is there any paint I can use
to make sure it is water proof? He does not have the money to title it or to
put a plastic insert. Would a good exterior paint work as long as everything
is well caulked? Thanks for any help.

I would contact a local "contractor level" paint supply business. I know that they make epoxy based paints that will stop water from leaking into your basement. So I'd bet they would have just what you need.
