Painting safely on a roof??

I need to paint on my roof which is on a slant. Is there some sort of structure I could build with wood (2by4's) to attach to my roof? I CAN nail into my roof but just not into the shingles. I was thinking of building a structure about 8 feet wide that would make myself level with the ground. I'm just having problems with attaching it to my roof. Any idea? Any links to images of completed structures or scaffolding? Is there a simple solution to my problem? Thanks!!

check out rent all place they have the proper scaffold you can rent and i would encourage you to wear a safety harness with the safety line properly anchored and be very careful i hear of people falling and the results are usually not good, some jobs for some peopls are better left to a pro
