painting over semi gloss paint

I am covering semi gloss painted wall with a flat finish paint.my question is how do I cover it do i have to put a primer, scuff or go over the whole wall with sand paper( to scuff it up) or can I just paint the wall with the new paint?the wall is painted a semi gloss gray and i am trying to put the same color gray on the wall with a flat finish

painting over semi gloss paint

just go right over it.

primers biggest use is with either dirty scuffed up paint or drastic color changes. if you paint white over orange you'll want primer. orange over white, not needed. in your case grey over grey is easy and your paint will cover very quickly. if you rush you can still get 30% off at sherwin williams, the sale is over oct 10th. this puts classic 99 at a lower cost than even the big box stores.

painting over semi gloss paint

If I was doing it,I would scruff up the semi gloss paint first and make sure it was clean before attempting to put another coat of paint on there.

painting over semi gloss paint

Someone went over semi-gloss here on the trim
It peels off quite easily
Made it easier to strip the paint to re-paint
