Painting over Semi-Gloss Paint

I'm off to paint our laundry room now.
The walls are textured with the lovely orange peel, so sanding all the crevices is impossible. There's no issue with moisture buildup.

Is there any prep work that is necessary to paint over semi-gloss?
Do I need a primer?

I plan on using Benjamin Moore - Aura or Natura paint lines again, since they both worked out so well in my son's bed room.

Thanks

Always a fan of the generic gimmie:
Dull, Clean and dry, but orange peel would be a pain to sand. You can scuff over the tops of it, but it will not sand all the nooks and such.

I always hear the aura and the better paints are self priming, but when going over a semigloss may be a bit different. Is the semigloss you are talking about in the kitchen or bathroom. If so you will need to clean it first to remove dirt, mold, algae and oils.

also, is the semigloss a oil based or latex based. That will help further in your quest for an answer.
