painting over imitation wood paneling.

Which type of Kilz primer (and how many coats?) should I use?

I want to end up with "egg-shell white."

Neither. I would use Zinsser Low Odor oil then an eggshell latex. Kilz oil is a stail blocker and will knock you on your butt and Kilz latex is only good for drywall.

USE BIN SHELLAC PRIMER. Seals back anything, and is fast drying. then use a good eggshell paint on top.
