I decided I wanted to repaint a room one day. As I was inspecting the walls i noticed that the paint was bubbling up in some areas pretty extremely. After investigating more, I realized that whoever did the walls previously had hung this relatively thick brown paper over the walls and painted over it.
Wondering why they did that, I decided to tear the paper down so I could paint right on the drywall. But, after I took it off, I saw that the drywall was pretty highly damaged. There are lots of nicks in it and its not even at all. I dont think Ill be able to paint over it.
So, Im looking for a quick and inexpensive way to cover or fix the drywall so I can paint over it. I've tried a lot of things that havent worked, and I'm at the point where I'd like to try and redo what they did, and hang paper up and paint over it.
I bought some brown contractors paper, and I'm wondering if 1) this will hold the paint fine, and 2) the best way to apply it to the walls? I was thinking I could get some wallpaper adhesive and use that and just paint over it. Will this work?
Thanks!
