What are you painting?
Is it bare wood?
Is it pressure treated?

Exterior paint comes in many different sheens much like any other paint. Yes, you can paint the exterior with a Satin sheen. Make certain it's exterior paint though. Otherwise, you're gonna have a mess on your hands.
