Painting Outdoor Wood Table
Hello, I have built a fold able wood table to take to tailgates and camping. This table will be strictly used outdoors. I'm wanting to paint the surface with my college colors (FSU) and include a mascot in the center. I definatley want to protect it with some type of polyurethane or lacquer. Is there a better type of paint to use, or does certain types of paint work better with polyurethane?
As you can probably tell, I'm new at this. I'm having an artistic friend paint the table, but I wanted to make sure we used a type of paint that would last and that we could protect it as long as possible.
you can apply Spar Varnish over the paint to help protect it. Or just use exterior paints.
I have clear coated over paint on some cornhole boxes and they are 3 years old and still in good shape (i do not leave them out).
let your paint cure before you apply the Spar Varnish. you may have to wait 30 days to be safe. apply 2 to 3 coats of varnish sanding between coats.
Just use exterior paint, then there's no need to varnish.
