Painting OSB in the garage.
Hey guys,
Want to cover the walls in my garage with 7/16" OSB instead of drywall (cheaper, can screw into it). I've seen OSB that has been painted and it looks terrible. Not smooth at all and the 'chips' of wood really show through. I'm looking for an affordable process that will allow me to 'seal' the surface and cover up some of the irregularities of the OSB. Then cover coat with an affordable interior paint. I would like to be able to paint and have it look like reg plywood, and not OSB. I don't mind the seams between the sheets of wood, I can handle that. Thanks for any advice. Tim |

If the OSB you get has a smooth side, install it w/ that facing inside the garage. I dont' think you'll have much like sealing it smooth, but a good oil based primer like kilz and a couple coats of paint should get you as a good of results as you could expect. You could cover seems w/ cheap molding too if you like.
