Painting old stained oak kitch. Cabs

Our cabinets are stained oak witch my wife and i want to paint. I was wondering what people recomend for suface prep. If we should sand then prime and paint. If we should chemically strip then prime and paint. Also was what peoples ideas about when it is too hot and humid too paint or prime and how to overcome this. THNX

sand well, clean well, apply stain killing bonding primer( quality), apply 2 finish coats of quality acrylic paint, this means a trip to a REAL paint store

are the cabinets out in the weather? If they are inside the weather outside will have no effect

what chrisn said. . .. i would add that an oil enamel would have better abrasion resistance. or just top coat latex enamel with waterbased poly. cabinets need extra love
