Painting a nightstand - brand new to all of this

today I bought an unfinished wood night stand to paint myself. This is really my first DIY project so I wanted to get some advice before I dive in to it. I don't even really know where to begin. Help please? Thanks!!

Sand the wood before starting with 120 grit paper. Your first coat should be enamel undercoat. If you are finishing with an oil-base, use oil-base enamel undercoat. Use latex enamel undercoat if you are finishing with latex, although for furniture, a polyurethans oil enamel will be best.

Sand the undercoater when dry and apply selected finish. Your nearby Miller Paint Store should have everything you need.
