Painting New "Greenboard" Drywall
I have "green" drywall (mold/moisture resistant) I guees thats whats called greenboard in a basement bathroom. It doesn't seem to be as smooth as regular drywall. I am ready to start painting it. My questions are:
What kind of primer to use? When should I caulk and what kind? Should I sand it after priming? Paint recomendations welcomed. |
I've never seen a rough finish on gree board.
Sure your not talking about where the seams where finshed? They did not use the green board in any wet areas did they, like in the shower? Where are you talking about caulking it? Zinzeer 123 is what I use to prime with then two coat of paint. Paint the ceiling first with a flat ceiling paint after priming. |

Prime, caulk then paint.

Sanding----new work usually needs a quick sanding after the primer---this is to knock off any bit of dust and crud the is pulled off the face of the new work---
Very light--just to knock off any dust stuck in the primer. |
Nothing special about painting Greenboard. Use the same materials and techniques you would use on regular sheetrock.
