Painting kitchen formica cabinets?

Just moving into this house so no money for new kitchen cabinets. I really, really hate the imitation hickory formica cabinets. The house was built in '83 so you'd think it'd have wood cabinets.

What's my success rate going to be if I prime then paint the cabinets a cream color?

Even if it chips I'd still like it better than what it is now. I saw this done yrs ago on TV and I remember they said to mark each door that you take off so you can replace it to the exact spot. There aren't many cabinets so it's not a huge project.

thanks

Painting kitchen formica cabinets?

It would be far better to replace the whole doors and drawer fronts.
Yes it can be painted but not likly to stay stuck and a whole lot of money, materials and time to do a job that's not going to work out long term.
Cleaning, sanding, cleaning again, bonding primer, then paint.

Painting kitchen formica cabinets?

I think before I spend $$ replacing doors, etc., I'll live with it awhile then plan on new kitchen cabinets soon as I can.

thanks
