Painting Horizontal lines

I am wanting to paint some verticle lines on a wall that is 155 inches wide. I woule like to keep the lines proportioned so that I dont feel like I am sitting in jail, but do want to add some texture to the room. I am using 3 colors and need some way to figure out what size to make my stripes. Does anyone have a formula or know of some sort of calculator that I could plug some numers in to help me with the number and size of stripes? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your thread says horizontal ( goes left/right) your question says vertical ( up down.)
Which is it?

It's pretty simple really...........if you need to cut up 155 inches into even stripes you have to decide how big you want each stripe to be. Let's say you want 10 stripes.........each stripe would be 15.5 inches wide. If you want 12 stripes you're looking at about 13 inches per stripe. Doing stripes is a tough process......lots of marking and masking. I usually make my stripes with my four foot level and a pencil and then paint them freehand without the masking tape. For me the masking tape ends up pulling paint off and then you're stuck making drywall repairs.

For how to do it see the other thread below about horizontal stripes.
Follow the link I gave for how to.
