painting fake brick
 

I have a kitchen that hasn't been updated since the house was built in the 70's. Some of the walls have that awful orange fake bricks. Until we do a complete remodel I would like to paint over it to cover it but don't know what to use or how to go about it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That stuff is probably plastic or lenoleum. I would rip it down if you don't like the look of it.

I can't help but think that the best way to paint a surface like that is with spray paint.

With spray painting, a big part of the time spent is masking off everything you don't want to get paint on. Perhaps if you did that masking prep work, you could cut a deal with a painter to spray paint if for you.

Perhaps you could post a pic so we could get an idea of what you are dealing with? Normal brickwork can be painted with a thick-nap roller...
