Painting a exterior fiberglass entry door
Hi all! First time posting here.
I installed a prehung exterior front door. They say the doors are pre-primed?.. I bought a gallon of "Behr Premium Plus" exterior similar-gloss enamel. Is this ok? Also i plan on using some 1-2-3 primer before painting. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks |
It is always a good idea to coat even pre-primed doors as the primer sprayed on at the factory is usually put on as thin as possible. 123 will do fine I should think.
If you can and it is not a custom color mix, I would take the Behr back and get a better quality paint store, not box store, paint that will hold up better for an entry door. Otherwise apply two coats and hope for the best I guess. You certainly do not need a gallon for a single door surface (or even both sides of it!). I hope the orange aproned minimum wage wonder boys and girls did not tell you so?! A quart would have been more than enough. |

you painting the dog house also( the BIG one) ? as sd already said , get some real paint |
Is it just me or does every noobie (no offense to new posters) insist on using Behr paint? Is the marketing machine that promotes that garbage really that good?

Yep go get you a 23.99 quart of RESILLANCE PUDDING and put that on. And dont forget the 25 dollar quart of Adhesion primer they will tell you to put on. What a joke.
The Behr Semi gloss will be fine for your front door. Wash, Prime, 2 coats. Enjoy your door and the money saved in your pocket. |
