Painting enclosed deck
I have a large cedar deck with framed screen openings, I'm thinking of painting it.
Question- is there a type of spray gun that can spray narrow areas? I have a compressor.
I'm hoping this doesn't have to be a paint brush job .
No way would I be trying to use a spray gun!
There's going to be over spray every where.
Why would you want to paint it and make it high maintance from then on and cover up the natural wood?
Well, here's a story you hear on here about 3 times a week.......by the time you mask off the screens, cover the floor, prime the pump, practice with the sprayer, buy a mask, buy masking tape, etc. you would be done with a brush and a mini roller and on your way to Cancun for vacation. It's just not gonna save you the time that you think it will. And, even if you use an HVLP unit, it would still be best to back roll the paint to get proper coverage/adhesion. If you think about cheating, and I'm sure you might be, NOT MASKING the screens will result in one ugly mess of a porch. Nothing looks worse than overspray on screens.
Thanks guys, new paint gun & sprayers out.
I've wrestled with to paint or not to paint deck for three years now. Yes maintenance will increase.
But the deck will look like a finished product.
I'll just have to figure out if its worth the time.
Still on the honey due list.
Thanks for the suggestions!
