Painting a door red outside, white on the inside - quick question

For my entry door, I'm painting it red on the outside to match my red accents, and the inside will be painted white.

I was wondering what color the 'middle' should be? The part where I put my hinges into, the 1 3/8" thick part. I'm assuming red, so white couldn't show from outside? But then red might show inside? I'm hoping my installation will be tight enough that it really shouldn't matter, but want to err on the side of safety, looking for how this is typically handled :)

I'll defer to the customer if they have a preference, but as the trim on the outside hides the edge of the door, the edge of the door is usually painted the interior color

If it's an outswinging door, I suppose it would be the other way around

Yeah it is an outswinging door, so I guess red it is!!! (hmm, I wonder how unusual an outswinging door is? Seems common in my area, but up north I remember doors opening inwards... I like outwards better anyways!)

Could be a regional thing
Outswing doors don't open well if you come home after a big snow

;)

LOL TRUE!!!! Never thought of that. From a home security perspective though, outward opening can't really be kicked in, so that's always a plus

But you do have access to the hinges and door slide bolts. But you know the old saying, if they want in that bad, they will find a way.

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The door opens inwards!!! I was thinking of the other door on the side of the garage!! (I just went and took pics, because I looked at the door and saw there was no way you could access the hinges from the outside. Took pics, sized them to put here, then realized that maybe I should've eaten breakfast today because my mental capacity seems to be on par with a child  )

So, looks like that thin strip will be painted white, not red!! (glad I asked, cuz otherwise I would've ended up painting that stripe red lol!!)

But yeah, if they want in that bad, they'll find a way. I actually just got an extra motion sensing unit to rig up to some lighting (unsure where I'm gonna put it or what lights yet), but if worse came to worse, we're not exactly defenseless over here :gunsmilie:

(doesn't this site have the largest smilies collection you've ever seen!)
