Painting Crown Moulding

Been a while since I posted.. lotta stuff going on.. but good to be back.

Basic question, seems like I've found equal opinions both ways..

Paint crown before installing or after its on the wall? Thoughts? Reasoning? Experiences?

Primer and one finish coat before installing - fill, caulk, spot prime and second finish coat after install. This method is the best balance between easy painting and quality finished product.

Windows... thanks for the quick reply... I bought pre=primed and was thinking the same thing... one coat on the ground, install... then clean up nails, etc and recoat.
