Painting ceramic tiles

Anyone had any luck painting ceramic bathroom tiles? Mine are pink and would like to change before selling house but not spend alot of money. I don't mind painting if it works and looks ok. Thanks

It can be done although I don't recommend it for too many reasons. A quality bonding primer (one that will stick to glass) would be step one. Allow to dry for 24-48 hours and then topcoat with your finish coats. The problem with hard surfaces like tile is that anytime you bump it or hit it you are bound to knock some paint off.

Not a big selling point.

I don't think getting rid of the pink is going to be accomplished without dropping a few bucks, with paint or tile replacement. Gymschu is correct in that it could be painted and would probably hold up pretty well. There's usually not too much banging around in a bathroom. But dangermouse is correct in saying that it would look like painted tile. Once the tile and the grout are the same color, it's going to look solid and crappy. However, with a little patience and skill, it could be pulled off. I would suggest painting/decorating in a fashion that complements the pink tile and makes it look like that was the plan, and takes the apology out of it.

Use the 'search' bar on the site. Use the terms 'painting tile' this is a well discussed topic.

Thank you Gymschu, DangerMouse, and jsheridan for your replies. Guess I'll just go the decorating route (which I kind of already have anyway). Pink is still pink though! Thank you!!
