Yup, I agree with tool seeker. Faster to just do it freehand.

I am another freehander. I have messed around with tape and edges etc....none of them work better than taking your time and free handing it. I do all around the doors and windows free hand now too.

Having hand painted signs for many years a good practice for painting smooth lines is to look where you are going instead of where you've been and knowing how to load the brush with paint. Definitely use a quality brush and take care of it, it will last many years.

I have a brush I use only for cutting in. A good brush with a taper is a must.

Trim is easier than drywall corners because the edge is sharper, but nevertheless freehand is the way to go.
