You can spray paint anything

...but the better way to change the color of fabrics is to dye them

How long would it take for a sun porch carpet outside in 90 degrees to dry? Will it dry hard?

Are you still trying to spray paint it? If dying, drying should take only a few hours on a nice day if hung out to air dry.

If spray paint... no idea as I've never seen anyone do it... although it may end up looking like art...

Susie Q,

Please do not paint your carpet. The neighbors might call the guys in the white suits. And they won't be fellow painters.

You must have seen one of the several hundred shows on HGTV where they did this. You'd be better off to use an acrylic paint if you are going to do it (Krylon H2O if you want to spray it) as it will be more flexible when dry. Paint is actually the better was to go with this particular project I would think. Dye would fade faster outside.
