Painting behind wood stove

We are renting a place that has a wood burning stove. The protective barrior behind the stove between the stove and the wall is white we want to paint it black, does anyone know what type of paint we should use?

I am not sure how much of an effect turning it from white to black will have on it's ability to reflect the heat.

that stuff works great, but I would keep it white.

BBQ Black in quart cans. This paint (flat finish) is made for BBQ repaints. Available at your local hardware store.

I have used that stuff before, perfect blend, smells a little the first time you fire it up, then no odor. Neutral colors work best.
