painting bathroom cabinets

i'm redoing the master bathroom which has a wall-mounted linen cabinet above the toilet and a wall-to-wall cabinet under the vanity. i'd like to repaint them to coordinate with the new tile i'm installing. so, what would be the preferred type of paint to use for this? i dont know whether the original paint is oil based or water based.

Personally in a bath room i go with oil based in a semi gloss only because I feel it is more moisture resistant and more washable. Think of everything that is squirted or sprayed in there.
