Question

Painting Bathroom Cabinet-Need Help!

Hi,

I am painting a bathroom vanity that was previosuly stained. I used a deglosser, then a primer and now have begun applying the top coat (oil based) with a foam roller. So far, it doesn'tlook to good. I'm using a small foam roller and the finish goes on looking a little spotchy then seems to even out but it still looks like primer (too thin) not the top coat look I want. Is this because I have only painted one coat? Or, could it be my paint is too old? It has sat in my garage for a year howvwer, I stirred it really well. I don't know if I should continue or quit. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I am using Valspar Primer and Paint both oil based. However, the paint is a couple of years old and was kind of lumpy when I opened it.
