Painting Bathroom

We are remodeling our master bath. Right now I am smooth texturing the walls and ceiling to get rid of the stipple finish that was original. We had a new 36" shower installed with granite up to the ceiling on 2 sides, and glass ( not all the way to the ceiling ) on two. I will be installing a fan above the shower, maybe not centered, but towards the door. We would like to stay away from gloss or semi gloss, maybe a satin finish. Will the satin hold up above the shower? Any special needs other than a drywall primer?

You will only need to prime if its new drywall or you have made repairs. Any quality latex paint with 100% acrylic binders will hold up for years. My preference would be Sherwin Williams Duration Satin finish. Have used thousands of gallons of it over the years and have never seen it fail.

Satin/Eggshell would be fine...you need to so some sheen on the ceiling. Read this blog and you'll learn why -

Just remembered that I have a 1/2 gallon of Mad Dog Primer left from last summer, from painting the exterior of our house. I had got it for priming the stucco near the ground, where the stucco had deterriated and the paint was peeling. Haven't opened it yet to see it's condition. Would this be of benefit to prime the ceiling over the shower ?

You will only have to prime the ceiling if it is a bare substrate or you have performed repairs.
