painting around security?

I haven't activated (not sure I will) the security system in my new home. But, I am leaving all the wires and things.

In the living room there's a white box 4" long up towards the ceiling, in a corner. I guess I'll paint around it and then if it's ever removed just expect paint not to match. Unless anyone has any better idea. (and any idea would be better.

As for the wires along the baseboard, I'm just painting over them. They go to the security things on the windows.

It's your house, paint whatever you want or not.

painting around security?

by "any other ideas" I should have been more specific in asking if anyone knew if the security thing was easily detached (for painting behind) or if I'd damage it trying to remove it.

I don't take them off either - just get a small brush to get behind.

It is more than likely a motion detector and CAN be removed

BUT

It might also set of the system

Been there before when the ho was out of town, police showed up with guns drawn. I paint around anything having to do with the security system now.
