Question

Painting aluminum siding but on inside of room

I have a sunroom with the siding still on the walls. I would like to paint over it but I'm not sure what type of paint to use. Do I still have to use acrylic latex exterior house paint? The siding will never get weathered on.. Thanks!

Painting aluminum siding but on inside of room

Hi,
When painting aluminium siding you first want to clean well to remove any contaminants such as dirt, grease, oil, and chalk that may be on the surface. We use TSP when cleaning siding and it works well, you'll want to dull down any shiny siding, by lightly sanding, as long as there are no bare spots you won't have to prime. A 100% acrylic paint will work well and it will also have some elasticity if there's any movement with the siding. My personal favourite is Sherwin Williams SuperPaint which we generally always use on wood, vinyl, and aluminium siding and have never had a problem.
