Painting 2-tone on a single wall question

Hello all, i am new to the forum, i have been looking for a forum like this one for a long time!!

Anyways, In my house I want to paint one color on the first foot or so towards the top of the wall. (In stead of a wall paper boarder). Now i was thinking of running a laser line across the wall and put tape along that line to make a level line across the wall, so i can paint the rest of the wall a different color. Does anyone have an easier way to do this? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

I can't think of an easier way.

You could also presume your ceiling is level and just measure down from your ceiling a certain distance everywhere around the room.

That is the proper procedure
I'd suggest the Frog Tape for lines as it's the only one that the paint won't blead under
