I finally have picked out the paint and bought it to ,paint, the ,exterior,of my house. My problem? The house has ,asbestos siding, and I am not sure how to ,prep, it to paint. It was previously painted white at least 20 years ago. It is chalky and some shingles are not smooth any longer. I have limited funds so I can't hire a pro and I work a full time job so I need to get it done asap, before winter. The easiest, cheapest and best way is what I am looking for. Suggestions?

Asbestos is a tough substrate to paint. Not only are the fibers deadly to your skin and your lungs, it is a pain to prep it properly so that it will accept new paint. I've done 'em over the years masking up and using my pressure washer for the most part to remove peeling paint. Keeping it wet helps keep the fibers from dispersing into the air. I really would like to help you with some advice here, but, in good conscience I just feel the dangers of exposure are too great and you also may be breaking some EPA regulations on containing a cancer causing agent.
