Painting with 18" roller - Gray grease on edge of roller from the frame

Hello,

New to painting with an 18" roller setup. 1st love it..dont know why it took me so long. 2nd...every once in a while I get grey grease on the edge of the roller coming from the frame pin. What am I doing wrong. Got the frame at Home Depot. Not the sherlock.

Thx.

That's a new one on me. Never heard of a roller frame with GREASE in it/on it to cause such a problem. You may just have to disassemble it as much as you can and degrease it. And, who knows what brand is sold at HD. More than likely the cheap Shur-Line which is more of a DIY setup than something from Wooster/Purdy, etc.

I'd guess it's aluminum oxidation from a cheap frame not grease.
Roller frames do not use grease.
