painted wallpaper has wrinkled

Hi,

I have painted over wallpaper and the moisture has made the paper wrinkle and bubble and now looks terrible.
Is there an easy way to fix this?
This is an old tenament flat, so if I stip the paper, would it be possible to paint the walls directly? or will the paint just absorb into the wall
If I put up lining paper and paint it, will it just wrinkle again?

thanks for any help

painted wallpaper has wrinkled

Hi
Welcome to the site
Unfortunately, that's what happens when one paints over wallpaper
The proper way would have been to strip the wall covering first

At this point, it's still best you try and remove the wall paper
Depending on how it goes and what left when you are done, your next step could be paint, most likely primer
It may include a number of other things depending on how the strip goes

Yes i would remove the paper, a bit os sanding, probably will need to do a little skimming with sheetrock mud, some priming and then painting.
All this will vary in degrees depending on how easy the paper comes off. I would expect the worse and hope for the best.
