Paint selection for exterior aluminum clad windows that will level out well
I have about 38 Kolbe/Kolbe aluminum clad wood casement windows and the bronze finish on the outer cladding is getting faded and weathered.
I'd like to use a high quality semi-gloss acrylic for the cladding but really want a coating that will flow out and self level when applied with a good brush.
I've used SW Duration on my other ext. trim and it's excellent paint but I'd rate it poor for flow out and self leveling.
I could try using Floetrol to try and improve Duration's performance but I'm not sure SW recommends any additives in Duration. Is there another "Duration like" product that's has better flow out characteristics. (ex: BM Moore Glo???)
Find a latex acrylic from Porter "719" We used it on a condo in South Florida with super harsh weather (beach front) and it performed extremely well. Went back years later couldn't believe how well it held up to the elements.
On another note.... I am a SW fan, you shouldn't have any trouble adding a small amount of additive to the Duration. We have, with no problems, might wanna ask SW? They will probably tell you to go with the DTM?
