Paint over Spackling is too dark!

Hello everyone... Newbie here.
I applied some spackling to Interior wall.... took a sample of color to paint store and got a sample. When I painted the spot on the wall... lightly with a sponge... it still came out too dark, Picture honey mustard on mustard. Yep! Why my wife chose that colour is a totally different topic.:censored: So my question is: Is there a way to lighten that 1 sq foot spot on the wall? I just read on the sample can that the satin paint must be tinted.

Hmmm...sounds like you thought you could just touch-up one sq. ft. of wall w/o painting the whole wall

Really, that almost never, ever, works

Best bet is to borrow a Fan Deck from the paint store, and figure the closest color and get that

Then paint the wall from corner (or other natural break) to corner

Even if it's not exact, if you look closely the original color looks slightly different on the different walls anyway (depends on light etc.)
