I am new here hoping to get some good information.
I am going to paint my outside back door and columns. I was thinking it would be nice to contrast a darker color against the vinyl. I painted some test spots and am now second guessing myself. See pics below. I like the bottom 2 colors the best. Should I go darker/lighter? Also should I paint the frame and columns the same color? Any suggestion/ pictures would be greatly appreciated!!
I have seen the plastic window trim on that type of door destroyed by painting it dark. I think dark paint causes it to get hotter in the sun that its designed for. They will crack, warp, its surprising really how messed up they can get.
Maybe just paint the metal dark and leave the plastic light. Be sure to prime the plastic or the paint will flake off. I bet you could scratch your samples off with a fingernail.
