Paint a metal bathtub?? Please help!

My bath tub is metal and painted. However whoever painted it did a terrible job because it's all peeling off. Can I just sand it down a bit and repaint it? What kind of paint would work best? If someone could help I'd really appreciate it. We're moving in April 1st and I really want the bathroom to be done in time.

If you plan on actually using this bathtub, your only choice is to have a professional bathtub refinisher do it. The DIY kits for this purpose simply don't last very long, and you will be doing the job all over again after a few months.

To remove the paint, you might want to ask whatever refinisher you choose to hire for advice. I'm sure they've had to remove paint before.
