Paint Material
I found old wood screen door that was going to be discarded. The wood is
in very good condition, I need to replace the metal screen which is easy to do. I am going to reproduce on the screen an ad like the ones I remember as a kid. Example: I will install a Rainbow Co. Door Push & I will apply the words on the metal screen"RAINBOW IS GOOD BREAD". Any feedbacks on what materials to apply on the metal screen so that the paint will adhere and cover the holes. My next stop will be home depot & see what they have ! Thanks ! |

Paint Material
Paint seems to adhere to metal screens without any prior prep. If I were to give something like this a shot I would lay the door down with some sort of a backing like a scrap of plywood, a piece of plexyglass, something stiff that could be pulled away from the screen once the paint has set up, not necessarly totally dry hoping to keep most of the paint intact on the screen. Some of the paint from the holes will more than likely come off with the backing so you may need to do the painting more than once to fill the voids. Maybe even try something like a cooking oil spray that has dried on the backing, that might keep the paint more in the voids of the screen.
I sure hope you get some more input. Interesting project. |

In giving this some more thought maybe a low tack masking tape might be your best choice. Once pulling off the tape from the back side the low tack is designed to not pull paint off. Just another thought.
