Paint manufacturers

I like Sherman Williams paint myself. I think it covers better. My Wife on the other hand tells me that all paint is the same and it all in my head. She states that there are only one or two manufacturers and that all paint comes from them.

Paint manufacturers

Not true...yet. There are indeed fewer and fewer manufacturers as a couple big company buy up the little ones. But even the big companies make good lines of paint and total junk lines of paint.

SW has many, many, different lines of paint in all quality levels
I would have to agree that their premium lines cover very well

She is incorrect

Perhaps she cannot tell the difference
That does not mean there isn't one
That's like saying beef is beef
It's all cow right?
Like a hamburger at MickyDee's is the same as a Filet Mignon from Restaurant Le Frou Frou
Maybe you don't care...maybe you like McDonald's hamburgers
Maybe you can't tell the difference
But there is a difference
Maybe you don't find it worth the money, but there is a difference
And they do come from different cows too...just like paints come from different factories

And they are not all owned by one or two comapies
True, SW may own some smaller companies, Valspar may own Cabot
Even when that happens, the production facilities (and other things) remain independent of each other
Cabot is still made where it's been made

Hope this sheds some light
