Sinclair what you be smoking'? LOL. No, no paint lasts for 30 years which is about as long as I have been a painter. I do have a restaurant I painted in 1978 that still has the original paint on it. It was a cinder block building that I put block filler on and painted brown. It's looking pretty rough. I have seen paint jobs last a good 10 - 12 years IF the surface being painted was not in direct sunlight or exposed too much to the elements. Some aluminum sided paint jobs last 12 - 15 years before needing repainted.

Joe, well stated........vinyl is final......well, sort of. I've seen taupe vinyl siding fade to nearly white after a year. Vinyl oxidizes just like any other surface although keeping it cleaned every year or so sure helps. I have painted a few of the "Vinyl is final" homes over the years and I'm sure there is more to come.

Nothing can diminish the value of a wood sided home faster than covering it with vinyl because you believe the hype you will never have to paint again. Maybe true but as mentioned, vinyl fades fast and the cheap stuff turns brittle. It is hardly the low maintenance siding material it claims to be.
