Paint and finish advice for desk

I have a desk which I am going to be building out of MDF. I want to finish the desk with a slight VISUAL textured affect (similar to that of a roller) with a durable finish.

I was planning on priming with Dulux difficult primer. Painting with some normal black interior paint then finishing with a type of varnish.

Can anybody suggest a better way? Or a better finish?

Thanks for any help
