paint curing

I painted the interior of my built in china cabinet. How long should I let the paint cure before returning my china into the cabinet?

Ginnie,
There are differences in types of acrylics/latexes and alkyd finishes. Without more information as to what you used it is hard to guess. Oils will be ready to use within days, acrylics may need a week or longer. Zero-Voc is the longest to cure because of lack of solvents, The longer you can wait, the better.

Like Mr. Paint stated, depends on what you used. Unless you're in a hurry to get everything back into the cupboards I would wait a week or two to be on the safe side. Nothing worse than having everything STICK to your new paint and pull it up and off.

Latex vinyl and acrylic semi-gloss finishes take 30 days or so to fully cure and from gallery experience placing anything heavy on them before this will create problems. You should be able to return you china sooner though but wait as long as you can to minimize "footprinting" the new finish if it is latex or acrylic.
