Paint color too dark

We painted a room a pale yellow and now it's too dark. During the day it's very light and subtle, but at night it's too yellow. What can I do to soften (lighten) it? Or, if I need to re-paint how do I make sure I get the right shade?

Paint color too dark

This is the most common problem that I run into. That little swatch from the box store looks great but you have to understand light to understand how a whole room of that color will look. I generally go 2 shades up from the swatch for original. You already have the color as a base and may consider 3 shades up to get the color that you want.
Have a qt. mixed and spread it as far as it will go. Let it dry for 48 hrs. and make your final judgement.

Paint color too dark

I realize this is an old post and the person probably isn't around any more, but...

if you like the colour during the day, but it's too dark at night, try switching any light bulbs to the compact flourescence type. These give a more true "white" light and can really brighten a paints colour.

Hope this helps someone...
