Paint Brand Recommendations
I'm interested to know what thoughts you have as to brand of paint recommendations for interior house paint. I'm thinking water based latex is the way to go these days but if any of you have other thoughts I'd be interested in them too. But my main question is who makes the best paint? I'm in Central Florida so the choices I can think of right off are (listed alphabetically):

Behr (Home Depot)
Benjamin Moore
Color Place (Wal-Mart)
Pittsburgh Paints

(if I left out your favorite, please feel free to discuss it).

Thank you all in advance,
Central Florida

Behr (Home Depot)

"better to leave the walls bare than put Behr on the walls"

Color Place (Wal-Mart)

Forget these two and go with the top of the line from any of the rest.

Pratt & Lambert is another good one. What ever happened to California Paint? I hardly see that discussed at all anymore.

You may look into Richards Paint as well. They are a large regional company out of Florida. We've used a lot of their primers and specialty coatings over the years. They tend to be good quality for less money than other brands. Sometimes the regionals have the best product for the local market.

Buy the top-line, or near-top paint from a store that sells pretty much nothing but paint. (i.e., NOT BigBoxCo), and you will be fine. The big national brands like Ben Moore or Sherwin have decades of experience and a lot of very expensive chemists, but the smaller regional brands may be able to produce a paint customized for your region of the country, which maybe could be helpful if you have an exterior project.

I'm a SWP person myself, but really you can't go wrong with the top paint from just about any paint store brand, many of which are related to each other. (For instance, Sherwin owns P&L and Duron; many companies get their resins from the same place, etc.)

I use Benjamin Moore only. Avoid big box paints -- you do get what you pay for.

Forget the behr and wally world paints
Any of those will have helpful sales people and desirable products.
I buy a lot of paint out of both ICI and Pittsburgh.
