I am looking for a quick and easy fix to change the look of oak cabinets. I saw some oak cabinets that looked like they had been covered with a glaze - no color. The result was a softer look with less grain showing in the oak. How was this achieved? What is the required prep? Any other ideas that will hide the oak look without painting?
Well...even the glaze would be painted on, so I'm not sure what you are looking for
Most glazes I know of (all of them actually) would still need a coat or two of poly to protect them (they are made for looks not for durability), so you are still talking the same 3 coats you would to paint them
It would just be glaze/poly/poly rather than primer/paint/paint
