Need some ideas on maximum coverage paint

Hi

I am a DIY rookie and I have a wall in my home that had brick veneer on it at some point. The previous owners had wallpapered over the leftover mortar. Not knowing this, I peeled the wall paper off.

I looked online for ways to create a faux treatment that would hide the eyesore of brick lines and glunky mortar. Decided on Behr teture paint (sand finish - green one) followed by Behr flat enamel.

Half way into the project I realize that the Behr texture paint is not giving me enough coverage to hide the wall imperfections. I tried a knockdown technique but I can still see the brick outlines from far.

Can anyone suggest how I can salvage this project? Maybe you have a different technique of applying the texture paint. Please help!!

Behr is the first problem. Search for it here and find that it is one of the worst paints available.
