Need quick response..masking tape

I primed the room yesterday and now ready for the red.
When i pulled the masking tape off, dry, some of the primer came off with it!
Is it better to remove the tape before or after it dries?
If after drying I guess I didnt do a good job taping?

I believe you're supposed to remove the tape when the paint is still slightly tacky, so it doesn't pull the paint off as well.

You could run a razorblade along the edge as well now that the primer is dry

You are using the wrong kind of tape
You should be using Painter's Tape
(Blue or green)

Also, if possible, don't use tape at all
Painter's Tape is way over-used and way over-rated, and can create way more problems if not used properly

If you are that unsure of you freehand painting skills you can try a small paint shield instead of tape. It'll help you keep a neater line and is removed immediately with no adhesives involved. Just make sure to clean the paint off the edge frequently.
