Need advice on paint job

I need to repaint my son's bedroom. It is currently a medium shade of blue. It had a wallpaper border and several large posters. Too much glue was used on the wallpaper, so I had to spend a lot of time stripping it and clearing the glue off. I also sanded down that area to remove the glue. I think/hope I got all the glue out.

We now want to go to a slightly lighter shade of blue/gray. In the past I have usually just applied two coats of paint without using primer. I am wondering in this case, given the situation I described above, whether I should use primer first.

So of the options below, which one would you recommend as the best compromise between quality and effort?
1. Two coats of the new paint
2. One coat of primer and two coats of the new paint
3. One coat of tinted primer and one coat of new paint
4. Any other option

Thanks!

I would go with one coat of primer and two coats of the new paint, but be sure to lightly sand primed walls before you apply two coats of paint.
Good Luck!

It's critical to get ALL of the adhesive off. If you don't, no amount of primer or paint is gonna hide the dull spots that will appear if you prime/paint over any leftover adhesive. That being said, if you are indeed confident that you got it all off, I would follow the advice of KD.

This is the correct answer. If you don't get all the old glue off, and I man ALL of it off it neads to be sealed with Guards or an oil based primer or any paint put on top of it will bubble, crack and not stick well. Once you have all the glue off or sealed then 2 coats of finish paint and you are all done.

How many ways are you going to spell this? Have you actually ever used it or did you just hear about it somewhere? It's Gardz.

This.

Gardz is pretty amazing. If you have any question as to whether you removed all the adhesive, this is your answer.

As always, you'll need two coats of paint.
