my brown paint has strong purple tint :/

i recently painted my living room harvested natural bark, and it has a strong dark purple tint. its worse in certain light, any tips on how to make the purple not noticable? paint trim bright white? what color carpet would make it appear more brown than purple? lighting? etc.:help:

Unfortunately the easiest solution is to find the color you really wanted ( with less purple) and repaint.

Some colors can be tricky, and it is hard to see on a little swatch. get a qt and paint out a sample board that you can move around to different light.

Still much easier than changing the carpet..

If the purple shows most under artificial light the color temp of the light may be off and more importantly the color rendering index of the bulbs may be low. You want a color rendering index of 95 or better. Incandescent bulbs have good CRIs as do halogens even though both have lower color temperatures. Cheaper florescent bulbs have terrible CRIs and can make things viewed under them look very unnatural.
