Modifying stain color?

I'd be grateful for some quick advice. We discovered very sound cedar siding under aluminum siding and have applied two coats of Cabots Linen. It looks soft and pale yellow under the overhand of the front of the house, but on the front of a gable, over a stone wall, it looks like an egg yolk. Obviously, the color is affected by the light and its position on the house and I should tone it down--but how? Do I just add white stain to the linen color, or can the paint store do something about this? Any advice?

Modifying stain color?

How long ago was the Cabots applied?
How was the cedar prepped before application?

Off-hand, w/o these answers, I'd say it should even out some over time, but it's probably the wood itself that has made the stain look different

Usually it's not really a good DIY project to try and "even it out" with more stain as often it makes it worse

Some more information might help determine if something can be done

Modifying stain color?

The Cabots was just put on this week--and over previously stained siding. Same two coats on each. I think the problem is one of lighting--one gets lots of sun, the other is in the shade of the overhang. Any thoughts?

Modifying stain color?

Could be lighting
But the thing is, if the light affected the coatings on there (it's highly unlikely they were treated before sided), it's a little too late to try and fix that now

What I mean is, the stuff under the stain you just put on is the problem-whether it's the sun or what-and now it's too late to brighten the wood and even that out

I would not suggest another coat of tinted stain to try and even it out
At least in general, and w/o seeing it
Their is great potential to make it worse

The exception would be, take some good pics to a Paint Shop (not a paint dept.) and see if they have a suggestion
If it's not too bad of a change, they may have something that might work
But they'll really need to see it to make a call on that
